Corndale
The brief was to create a space that could host life’s biggest moments, from their wedding day to future family gatherings, while remaining a welcoming retreat year-round.
A thoughtfully designed landscape now links the barn and pond, creating a seamless journey between each destination. Every area invites people to gather, celebrate, and make memories, from the fire pit and covered deck to recycled brick pathways weaving through lush gardens.
A recreational pond, driveway, parking areas, and expansive turf add both beauty and function, while runway-style pathway lighting keeps the magic alive well into the evening. Corten steel and recycled timbers bring warmth, character, and timeless craftsmanship to the bridge and railway elements, ensuring the space feels as unique as the people who’ll enjoy it.
Lynwood Project
The brief was to transform an outdated fibreglass pool, and the constant upkeep that came with it, into a relaxed, family-friendly backyard retreat. With children and grown children to entertain, the goal was to create a space that would bring everyone together.
The design removed the old pool and seamlessly connected the new outdoor areas to the existing deck and house. At the heart of the space, an old cog from a wind turbine, a special request from the owners, was repurposed into a striking fire pit. Recycled brick pathways lead to inviting entertaining zones, timber decks, and bubbling urns set amongst natural rock features.
Crazy paving meets the edge of the pond, creating a textured, organic feel, while lush planting softens the space. The result is a private oasis where the family can gather, relax, and make lasting memories.
Talofa Project
The brief was to transform an unsightly old dam into a beautiful, functional feature the owner could enjoy every day. She envisioned a place to wander with her dogs, who love the water, and even toss a ball across a pathway running through it.
Over 12 months, with many extra hands, we diverted water, used more than 600 tonnes of rock, and reshaped the landscape entirely. Pathways now weave through the water, leading to a fire pit with a custom curved timber seat, a levitating timber deck, and bridges framed in Corten steel.
Bubbling rocks, urns, waterfalls, streams, and flamed basalt stairs offer something to discover at every turn. Timber elements and lush planting soften the stonework, creating a harmonious balance between strength and tranquillity, a retreat for both the owner and her four-legged companions.
